Lazada, is great. One of the pioneers of e-commerce in the Philippines that people actually trusted.

I turned to Lazada to buy affordable items of  clothing, wallets, bags and even shoes. I was introduced to the concept of Cash-on-delivery, that therefore solidified my trust with company. In my recent purchases, i even  turned to paying via  credit card first for convenience – because when my package does arrive,  i don’t have to  be in my condo residence. The front desk can immediately pick up my package until arrive. (Before, i had to cram when the courier sends me a message saying he’s coming, and i haven’t had a bath!)

Lazada now has Official Stores, too – and it’s great because i get to buy products from stores i love, like Watsons or Maybelline (because girls *rolls eyes*). Though i find that there are points for improvements, too:

  •  Separate shipments due to separate sellers –  When i do filter by products that are “Fulfilled by Lazada”, my choices become too narrow.
  • Overpriced commodities – Yes, i actually found products that are 3-4x its current SRP which was  absurd. I understand that sellers need to offset shipment fees to make a profit, but this monopoly needs to stop!
  • Question for authenticity and quality –  Well, i find that there are too many items now from overseas. And it actually  makes you think twice before buying anything from such stores.

A changing Lazada is great. We need to adapt and upgrade our systems to better serve our customers. But the direction to where we are  going – i believe, should be thought thoroughly and still reflect our values and customers. Because we exist for our customers. How could e-commerce ever thrive, if not for the ones who transact in it? There are no sellers without buyers is all i’m trying to say.

Perhaps there’s a need to properly draw the line of what one’s purpose is, and make room for others who can better supplement us – instead of us trying to be  everything. Because to put it bluntly, Lazada is starting to suck (*in a really gentle tone*).

PS: I’m actually trying to hunt for individual stores now. Let me know if you have any recommendations!
